Admission Requirements

To enroll in any degree program at the OGI School of Science & Engineering, an applicant must have previously earned a four-year bachelor's, or equivalent, degree, although a student may be provisionally admitted prior to that time. An international applicant with a three-year bachelor's degree from a foreign country should have his/her academic credentials evaluated by an external evaluation company in order to determine equivalency to a four-year, U.S. bachelor's degree.

  • The GRE general test may be required. See department web sites for specific requirements. Official GRE scores should be sent directly to us from the ETS Testing Service. IMPORTANT NOTE: The institutional code for OGI is 4592. OGI does not have minimum GRE score requirements. The GRE test is one component of the application. Admissions Committees look at all elements of the application: statement of purpose, letters of recommendation, transcripts, GPA, research, TOEFL and GRE scores, etc. to form an opinion of whether an applicant would be a successful graduate student here or not.
  • Official transcripts from each college or university attended are required. Transcripts must be in English or accompanied by a certified English translation.
  • Three letters of recommendation -- each accompanied by the recommendation letter form and signed by the author. Letter writers should mail their letters directly to the OGI Department of Graduate Education, 20,000 NW Walker Road, Beaverton, OR 97006 or give them to the applicant in sealed envelopes and signed on the back flap.

Individual academic programs have specific requirements in addition to those shown above.
